Known for our superior ability to provide packaging products and services for multiple businesses, Mar-Pak was contracted by a client from the Specialty Chemical industry located in Marietta, Ohio, to design and manufacture a series of bulk containers that would be used to carry and safely transport dry flowables related to plastic resin applications. After carefully reviewing our clients unique specifications, we decided to design a flexible container that would meet our customers filling requirements while allowing their product to be discharged into their receivers in a controlled manner.
Due to it's durable nature and structural integrity, each container was constructed from Polypropylene material, a thermoplastic polymer. Possessing a fully integrated manufacturing plant, we were able to employ industry standard equipment to weave and sew the polypropylene fabric.
Based on a thorough review of our clients requirements to package, ship and discharge their product, we designed and constructed a custom manufactured FIBC that met all of their specific needs. The bulk bag was constructed of 6.5 ounce coated polypropylene material measuring 43 x 43 x 40 inches. It had a fill spout measuring 14 inches in diameter by 16 inches in length. The bag had two discharge spouts measuring 30 inches in length, with a starting diameter of 14 inches tapering to 4 inches at the bottom. Each bag had four 12 inch lifting loops and 4 10 x 12 inch document pouches. Our client provided camera ready artwork which we reproduced on two opposite bag panels. The bag was manufactured to hold one metric ton of customers material.
Ensuring that we deliver top-quality products to our client, we pulled several finished bags from each manufactured order. We tested these randomly selected products, further guaranteeing that each container met industry standard requirements for safe working loads. Each unit possessed a 2,200 pound safe working load and had a safety factor of 6:1. We also examined every bag for any defects in the sewing or fabric that might affect the integrity of the shipping container.
These specialty containers also possessed a number of unique features, such as two-sided Velcro ties located on each spout and two graphic prints placed on opposite panels. Meeting high client expectations, Mar-Pak was able to successfully design and fabricate a series of woven, flexible intermediate bulk containers that could safely hold, transport, and discharge our customers dry flowable plastic resin products. |
